Rafael Bujosa, ship-owner of Mercanautic and seaman, realized that sometimes it was difficult to find the part he needed for his sailboat. This meant having the boat moored or changing the entire component when he only needed to replace a small piece of it. To solve a problem that many sailors had, in 1992, he opened Mercanautic, the first second-hand nautical products store in Spain. After some time and with more experience, he launched Mercanautic Palma as a franchisee of the Accastillage Diffusión brand and, today; it is the franchisee with the highest sales in Spain. When he was presented with the opportunity to set up a new store in Puerto Adriano, he did not think about it and created Mercanautic Port Adriano.

When online sales began to emerge, Rafael, known to his friends as Longo, immediately opted for this sales channel. But, in 2019, he fully committed to structural and organizational changes in the web channel.
