Radar reflectors and detectors
Radar and radar reflector, the winning duo to see in all circumstances!
A radar reflector is mainly made of aluminum foil oriented in all directions. Its objective is to reflect the waves emitted by the radars so that your boat is identifiable, even if it is made of resin and plastic derivatives. The larger the reflective surface of your reflector, the more effective your identification will be for nearby ship radars.
In the range of products related to the radar identification of your boat, there are also systems called "passive radar" and "active radar". In the case of the passive model, the latter is simply a reflector made of aluminum sheets. You must adapt the type of system to your needs and the desired level of security, choosing between the different models of different sizes. Tubular formats to fix rooms are usually the most economical models. In addition, you can choose between systems encapsulated in boxes or in supers, which will send a much more powerful radar signature to the ships that cross your path and will dramatically improve your safety against all the surrounding ships. The so-called "active" radar will not be content with "reflecting" the waves emitted by the radars of other ships but will return an amplified signal to the radars of other ships. Stronger signals to avoid collisions with larger ships will have time to change course.
Warning: A radar reflector, whether active or passive, must be legally approved.
